The Sportie LAb is an incubator for ideas – whether it’s about fashion, sneakers, events, books, restaurants, or even future technology, we see the cutting edge as common ground.  We think it’s better to ask forgiveness than permission.  And we believe that leading the way is the only way to travel.

Everyday in the LAb is an adventure into something new.

Los Angeles is our home – the city of angels is also the city of innovation, the city of breakthroughs, and the city where something amazing is happening every moment of the day and night. That’s what we cover here at the LAb.

You don’t need a chemistry degree to dig it … just an internet connection and an open mind.

Boo Friedmann is the editor-in-chief of the LAb.  She digs the following:

  • Geek culture and still holds to the claim that she can kick ass in Dungeons & Dragons.
  • Umberto Eco
  • Radiohead, Sigur Ros, Mum, Boards of Canada, Bjork, and just about anything Jason Bentley does.
  • A refined sense of sarcasm (yeah, really)
  • Puppies, kittens and elephants

Boo isn’t too hot on:

  • Those who don’t love puppies, kittens and elephants
  • The color green which has more to do with the fact that she can’t see that color, but assures us it isn’t personal
  • People who don’t appreciate a good curse word every once in a while
  • Cold weather … anything below 70 really.

SistahFairyDiva : What can I say about SistahFairy?, she’s a girly, girl, women’s women! Does that make any sense?

  • She love The color Pink, she says it’s an “emotion”.
  • She has a shoe collection, that is nothing shy of Imelda Marcos.
  • She refuses to leave the house without lipstick.
  • She considers herself the authority on all things “relationship”
  • She’s a Grandmother, but ain’t nothing granny about her except her lace up boots, she prefers Glam-ma

Kid A : Kid A wasn`t born in 1987, he was downloaded from the Internet. Since then he is looking for that source to call someone mama. As years went by he realized that if he was downloaded from internet, then may be it`s time to upload something back. He started looking for a good place to realize his ambitions and finally found the fabulous Sportie LAB on-line magazine. That day everything started. Now Kid A is living in the LAB and planning on a child, but not decided yet what site to download it from!

Ninja Kitty: Ninja Kitty here, fierce, blunt yet kitten friendly! Meow! My main interests are food, photography, traveling, concerts and wine, in no particular order. While my drop kicks are focused and strong, just like my opinion, I’m also as zen as a yoga master. However, when forced to throw it down, I’m always in my grey air force ones laced in hot pink to distract my frenemies! High-ya!!

L.C. Frasier: What can be said about L.C. all depends on who you ask. Some may say he’s your everyday nerd with a simple yet elegant style of dress, others may say, “Justin who?” So lets clear the record. L.C.  is a confusing plethora of things. Some know him as a nerd, others a romantic, and even some may argue that he is nothing short of psychopathic. Anyone who has actually held a conversation with him though, all know him as a writer. The above mentioned titles that often get attached to him are due to his wild range of topics he writes about. Sometimes it’s a series of love stories, sometimes a sadistically comically tale of teachers taking their internalized anger out on their unsuspecting students. Whatever it is, the writing is always good and even after they find themselves rocking slowly back and forth in a fetal position within the confines of a padded room, will always leave the reader satisfied. So unless you have any serious heart conditions, are pregnant, or off your meds, proceed at your own risk.

Beejay : I’m Beejay, Bridgette Johnson, also known as the cptls. I’m a Cali girl, born and raised in LA, attend college in the Big Easy New Orleans, and I’ve done extensive travel throughout the US. Not only am I an avid sports fan, but I’ve played basketball all my life. Look for my blogs, I will be giving you highlights of what’s happening in LA, social life, sports, entertainment, and great LA California cuisine.
